Lingerie Française Eschews Seating, Adds Pop-Up Boutique


Lingerie Française, the French federation of lingerie and swimwear, hosted its annual fashion show, this year entitled "Ladies of the Silver Screen," at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District on July 27. Projected video clips of actresses like Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor introduced each collection, and, as in past years, the show incorporated a dance performance in between the vignettes, "to keep the energy high". Local Ad Agency Celebrates 10th Anniversary With 3-D Mapping

Book Lover's Ball Doubles Fund-Raising Haul With Retooled Gala


The sixth annual Book Lover's Ball, held February 10 at the Fairmont Royal York Toronto, is the only fund-raiser of the year for the Toronto Public Library Foundation. This year, the foundation increased the table and ticket prices for the 600 guests and ditched the live auction from years past. As a result, the planners met and exceeded their goal of $450,000, more than double last year's take. Mini Countryman Launch Showcases High-Tech Video Panels


"For the launch of its new Countryman model on Tuesday, Mini Canada tapped Jump! Creative to produce a party for 250 at the Mini Downtown location. Showcasing the vehicles amidst city- and country-themed vignettes, Jump! worked with Westbury National Show Systems to install VersaTile video panels behind each vehicle. Coty Canada and the team at Fashion Magazine have a long-standing relationship when it comes to Canadian fragrance launches (recent collaborations include events celebrating the launch of CK Man, Calvin Klein Euphoria Men, and Calvin Klein Euphoria Women). Sure, there are ways to decorate a venue to look like Venice - some masks and a man mimicking a gondolier in a black and white striped tee will usually do the trick. Then there's decorating a venue to look like Venice which includes flying there, recording real gondolas rocking in the Grand Canal then projecting the footage on ceiling-high panoramic screens that encapsulate the entire dining hall and actually make you feel like you're sitting in Italy. 17th Annual Venetian Ball Smashes Records


This past weekend saw Villa Charities annual Venetian Ball take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre where Westbury's involvement was crucial in the event's success. The Venetian Ball engaged more than 100 production technicians over a 36 hour period to create a full sensory experience composed of two distinct locations. The Reception Lounge, spanning 30,000 square feet, incorporated full lighting, as well as animated projection surfaces in order to create an interactive entrance to the main dining room. The Dining Room, itself, incorporated full concert audio, lighting, and staging, as well as an enormous blended video experience. 10 flown projectors, utilizing over 400 running feet of 30'h projection surface embraced the dining hall, visually immersing the audience in the projected environment. Designers Launch Constantine Men's Collection With Poolside Presentation at Private Home


Westbury National were on hand to take care of all audiovisual and lighting duties at the Ezra Constantine 2011 Spring/Summer Collection showing, which took place at a private residence in the Annex. The designers staged the show on a concrete platform positioned over the swimming pool. "It's like a mini runway," designer Kirk Pickersgill said. Pickersgill and his partner showed 12 looks during three presentations held at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. Lingerie Francaise Paris (the French federation of lingerie and swimwear) returned to Wychwood Barns Wednesday to present the association's fifth annual runway show, featuring a preview of the fall 2010 and spring 2011 collections from brands like Passionata, Chantelle, Princesse Tam Tam, and Empreinte.
