Intermediate AV System Designer / Systems Division

 

The Design and Engineering department provides engineering services for the sales, installation, and on a limited basis, the show services departments.  As a member of the design team, your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Review of third party bid specifications for the purposes of estimating and bidding projects.
  • Review of project bids to ensure conformity with bid specifications and completeness of Bill of Materials. 
  • Review of project bids to provide labour and materials estimates.
  • Pre-sales engineering assistance to the sales team.
  • Review and testing of new products to determine suitability. 
  • Acoustical modeling
  • DSP system programming and implementation
  • Design of custom plates, panels, brackets and rigging hardware, complete with fabrication details
  • Heatload and power requirement calculations
  • Projection system geometry studies and sightline studies
  • Complete audio and AV system design
  • Preparation of complete system drawing packages suitable to be used for bid or construction purposes.  Drawing packages may include:
    • Drawing schedules
    • Device location drawings (plan and elevation)
    • Sightline studies
    • Wire and conduit risers
    • Wire pull schedules
    • Functional drawings
    • Rack elevations
    • Equipment installation details
    • Custom plate and panel layouts
  • Assist installation department and installation project managers to resolve problems arising from unforeseen site conditions or changes to the system architecture dictated by owner or consultant requirements.
  • Assisting the installation department with system commissioning
  • Preparation of “As-built” documentation at the close of the project.

 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

 

  • Experience working in a design office
  • Strong technical problem solving skills and teambuilding abilities
  • Great interpersonal skills, be self-motivated, capable of accepting responsibility, and willing to undertake team mentorship
  • A demonstrated knowledge of professional audio/sound systems, digital audio, video projection and display systems, AV control systems and networks
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, in MS XP or WIN 7 environment
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
